ERC Tracker - Troubleshooting

FAQ for TaxNow's Feature: ERC Tracker

  1. My ERC Tracker is blank/shows limited information

    1. 8821 hasn't been processed yet/incomplete processing: The IRS typically takes 10-12 business days (federal holidays not included) to process and approve an 8821. (You will get an email from TaxNow once your account is live.
      1. If it's been longer than 12 business days since you completed your onboarding, please review our Form 8821 Troubleshooting Guide to ensure the 8821 you submitted is as accurate as possible.
      2. If you need a copy or need to make changes to your 8821, or if after an additional week the ERC tracker still shows limited information, please reach out to our Customer Experience team via email at cx@taxnow.com.
    2. ERC Codes:  The ERC Tracker scans IRS transcripts for potential ERC related codes. If none of these codes are listed on your transcripts, no data will populate.
      1. If you feel that this is an error, please reach out to the person/organization that filed the ERC for you.
  2. What is (XXXX) code and what does it mean?

    1. If you are looking to identify a specific code, or need more information on the potential ERC related codes our system looks for, please consult the following resources:
      1. ERC Resource (taxnow.com)
      2. TAS - IRS Codes (TAS)
      3. Section 8A - Master Files Codes (IRS)
  3. Do I need to upgrade my TaxNow account to see/use the ERC Tracker?

    1. Yes. The ERC Tracker is currently only available to paid TaxNow+ accounts.
  4. I see Non-ERC Amounts in my ERC Tracker.

    1. Our tracker was designed for basic ERC claim situations. Because it relies on possible ERC related codes (Ex: Code 766), there are situations where the codes are used for other things. (Ex: Code 766 can be listed as a 'hire credit'/'employer credit' for ERC, but also can be listed for other Non-ERC related refunds, overpayments and credits, such as FFCRA Credits and Section 2302 deferral adjustments.)
    2. If you have any further questions or concerns regarding your transcripts, please reach out to your tax professional.
